  • JVSX Courseware: Diagnostic Testing & Troubleshooting (DT&T).  Students are provided lessons and lab exercises to learn both:  bench-top and in-field on-site Diagnostic Testing & Troubleshooting (DT&T) techniques.  DT&T techniques are applicable to resolving electrical/electronic problems that occur on a component-level, board-level and system-level, related to:  MCU (uP, uC), memory devices, I/O devices, I/O control bus, interrupt controller & scheduler, address bus, data bus, communication buses, power/aux buses, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) devices, interface cables, connectors, and connector contact pins.
    • The purpose of using DT&T techniques is to pin-point the location and determine the exact cause of:  hard failures (over-current, over-voltage, over-temperature), current faults (open circuit, closed circuit), false Resets (BOR), power-on/off Resets (POR), memory bit/bus-line ‘stuck at fault’ (0/1-SAF) conditions, interrupt over-flow, stack over-flow, security breaches, and forced Safe-mode conditions.  Several DT&T techniques can be performed manually or automated by a combination of hardware and software, to aid the diagnostic process, such as:
      • Built-In Self-Test/Built-in Test (BIST/BIT).
      • Power-On Self-Test (POST).
      • System Health Check/Internal House-keeping Unit (SHC/IHU).
